“The Wacky Races” was a late 1960s Hannah-Barbera cartoon. It was an instant hit that later gained cult classic status. The series features 11 different cars racing against each other in various road rallies across America with all of the drivers hoping to win the title of the "World's Wackiest Racer". The production remained a staple on European and South American TV channels for more than 4 decades, becoming a nostalgia phenomenon across different generations. To launch the new Peugeot 208 in both the South American and European markets, we decided to tap into the cartoon’s nostalgic appeal by creating a completely modern, up-to-date live-action production that would, not only, bring our target audience’s beloved characters to life but also introduce a brand new hero: the Peugeot 208 itself. The commercial, directed by Partizan’s Antoine Bardou-Jacquet, became a popular hit in South America and went on to win some of the most important local awards at the time.
